Headteacher blog Fri 2nd July 2021

Another week, another bubble burst: this time in Y6. The disruption to schools (and families) currently is being well-documented in the media this week and something will have to change for September. We are pretty well set up for remote learning now after all the practice that we have had, but it’s not the same… It is also very difficult if a teacher is having to teach some online and some in class at the same time!

We have had some lovely events and trips in school this week: 1B to the wonderful Rodley Nature Reserve, Year 2 having bee workshops up by our hives with bee-keeper and friend-of-the-school Mrs Gilhooley and Y6 having a Victorian resident of Saltaire visiting: entertaining and educating children both in the class and those joining from home – she even got a rave review from a parent listening in!

Next week, we have Year 6 residential at the wonderful How Stean Gorge, beyond Pateley Bridge in Nidderdale. We will be sleeping in tents and doing exciting activities such as abseiling, gorge scrambling, via ferratta, canoeing and caving. It should be fantastic!
