Year 6 01.05.26
May has arrived with some lovely sunshine this week and we have enjoyed being on the grounds for playtimes and PE sessions.
This week, some children in 6D have chosen to collaborate on the blog. It will be 6J’s turn next week so watch this space.
Thank you to Elise, Reyah, Shaheer, Nala, Izabela and Aya-Sofia who have written the blog together.
What we did this week
Hello, in this weeks blog year 6 children will be talking about how they feel about SATS and high school and clubs.
SATS
Our SATS are coming up! We only have a couple of school days left until our SATS. But no need to panic! If you revise everyday than you will get really good scores in your SATS. We are a bit nervous about them but we are all sure we will smash it.
We all want to thank all the teachers and parents for helping us get this far, without you we wouldn’t be here.
Please encourage us all to do work at home so we can smash the SATS!
Maths
In maths we have been doing angles and shapes. We have had an exclusive last lesson on nets which was the last lesson in Maths before SATS. After taking a test based around a boy named Chen, we focused on doing some booklets in the subjects we struggled with in the tests.
We think you should watch these videos
English
Instead of English writing we have been working on SPAG: specifically we have done some revision on pronouns, root words, prefixes and suffixes and the subjunctive form.
If I were the teacher I would make sure that year 6 checks out this link…
Breakfast Club
On the week of SATS we will be having a breakfast club on each morning so we can get all of our nervousness out (The breakfast options are toast, cornflakes and rice krispies.) Hope your child can attend.
The letter is here.
Science/ music
This week we did electricity and in music we learned the Cinderella Rockerfella songs for our production.
We will link the link the songs so you can learn them.
Cinderella & Rockerfella | Victoria Park Primary School.
High school
We are all very exited for high school. Unfortunately, some high schools have changed the uniform policies due to girls wearing skirts which are way too short so they are going to jumpers and trousers (no flares either. ) Overall we are really excited and a bit nervous for a change.
Homework
Bring home your arithmetic booklet from maths today and use mathsbot to practice the areas you have got wrong or feel less confident about.
Every day:
20 minutes of grammar (use grammar arcade on spelling shed)
20 minutes of spelling (any rule from spelling shed – don’t forget year 3 / 4 / 5 rules)
20 minutes of maths (from your booklet, corbett maths or mathsbot)
20 minutes reading
Have a lovely weekend – see you on Tuesday!
