Farsley Farfield Primary School

Malham and Science Superstars

Good evening,

The end of the school year is nearly here and this week both classes took the trip to Malham to complete their Geography topic on rivers. Malham is also surrounded by very picturesque scenery and some interesting geology, especially on the top of Malham Cove, and so we covered a range of learning plus some relaxation.

The weather on Monday for 5B’s trip was ideal for walking. It was cool, although a little windy, but there was no hot sun to make the five miles overly arduous.

In contrast, 5K had brilliant weather for sitting in the stream at Gordale Scar. Their walking itinerary was amended to ensure that everyone stayed safe in the heat and the icecreams were eaten at lunch.

Both classes had a great time. Due to some technical difficulties, photos cannot be posted but full galleries can found here for 5B and here for 5K.

The Science Superstars final took place this morning. We all spent a great time watching the best of school science, judged by our very own parents Dr McKeegan and Dr Koutoumanou. They had a very tough task sorting out who would be judged the best. Thank you for your efforts this morning. Alfie, Wilf and Reece represented the Year 5 classes brilliantly with their nerve controled artifical hand and CO2 powered rocket. The full gallery of all the finalists can be seen here.

Next week we have the poetry slam on Monday and Tuesday, a transition session Wednesday morning plus a meeting with our reading buddies in the afternoon, an end of Year get together on Thursday and the final day on Friday. Books etc will be sent home on Thursday so bags will be useful.

Have a lovely weekend
