Wow we only have 1 week left! This week has certainly been a busy one!

Phonics

This week in phonics we are revising all the sounds we have learnt so far. We are practicing reading and spelling words by segmenting and blending them. Our new hard to read and spell words are: house and mouse.

Over this week and next we will be doing our final phonic assessments. The children have amazed us to how much they have remembered. Every child will be sent home with the words and phonemes they need to continue to practice.

Please keep practicing the hard to read and spell words using the flashcards we sent home. Don’t forget you can make so many words using your ‘Phonic Flashcards’.

Maths

This week the children have worked hard to complete lots of addition and subtractions using resources such as unifix cubes and rekenreks. They have also solved addition and subtraction stories and are trying hard to form numbers correctly.

Understanding the World – RE

This half term, we have focussed on our world and looked at the creation stories of Christians, Jews, Muslims, and Hindus. We learned that people believe our world was created with care and that it is our responsibility to look after our world. We discussed what everybody, even 5 year-olds!, can do to help the planet. The children really enjoyed this topic and were very engaged when discussing the different creation stories and how we can look after our world.

Sports Day

Thank you to everyone who came and supported the children in their races. We are so proud of how well they did.

Library books/reading books

We are now collecting in all the children’s library books. Please have a good look to see if you have an library books or reading books still at home. Please return them in your child’s book bag.

Water fun

The children had a super water party on Wednesday. It is safe to say we all got very wet!!

Science Superstar Final

Our two Reception finalist did really well presenting their experiments to the whole school and a panel of judges!

Enjoy the weekend. Come on England!
