Farsley Farfield Primary School

Year 6 13.3.26

English

This week we have completed our work on The Highwayman and children have written a narrative based on the poem. They tried hard to write with varying levels of formality and in different voices for each of the characters. Some of them even came from Leeds! See whether you can identify who is ‘talking’ in each section.

Work here

Science

This week we learned about the job of the red blood cells in our bodies. We are going to write some explanation texts over the coming weeks about the circulation system and it was our job this week, to put our knowledge into presentations which we hope to deliver to younger children throughout the school. Here is a brilliant video we watched to learn more about the circulation system and the incredible job of red blood cells!

Assessments

We will be doing some assessments over the coming week to ensure we target areas of revision for the upcoming exams in May. Please encourage your child to continue to work on times tables recall as well as the four operations. We still have lots of maths curriculum to cover but it would be incredibly helpful to go over some topics we have covered this year at home with an adult.

Common areas of misconception include:

Telling the time on an analogue clock

Long division

Long multiplication

Fractions: Division of fractions, multiplication of fractions, fractions of an amount, mixed number addition and subtraction.

BIDMAS

We use the brilliant corbett maths for revision as well as maths bot and have linked both websites below
