English

This week in English, we have been researching facts about African land animals using the chrome books. We recapped the features of a non-chronological report and looked at some examples. We then had a go at writing our own reports based on an animal of our choice. We split our writing into three paragraphs discussing habitat, appearance and diet. We used a range of skills in our writing some of which were specific to non-fiction writing like subheadings and other grammar features like conjunctions.

Spelling

This week in spellings we have been looking at words with the tion spelling. We used syllables to help segment these words for spelling e.g. com-pet-i-tion.

Maths

We have concluded our work on multiplication and division by looking at the 10 and 5 times table alongside dividing by both 5 and 10. Keep practising those times tables and related division facts. We will look at times table rockstars next week and send home passwords!

Next week we will start a new topic on length and height.

Geography

In geography, we have been exploring what the houses look like in the village of Mugarameno in Zambia. We discussed how these are different to our houses and whether there are any similarities. We had a go at labelling the features of a house in Mugarameno and then drew and labelled a picture of our own houses.
