Farsley Farfield Primary School

Spring has been tantalising us this week and as soon as the sun shone and the breeze blew the field began drying out and it is great to see the Junior children across the grounds again at break times.

On Wednesday I had the pleasure of accompanying class 2La on their trip to visit a mosque in Bradford. We were made most welcome and the children were very well behaved and attentive as the imam told all about the building and prayers. The children asked very sensible questions – it was clear that they already had some understanding as a result of their RE lessons – and it was particularly lovely to see the pride in the faces of Faran and Iman as they showed us how they pray at their mosque and told us about the other things that they do there. Visits to places of worship – churches, synagogue and gurdwara, as well as the mosque – are core aspects of our RE curriculum but also important to show that peers and the school have some empathy towards, and give value to, each others’ cultures.
