Year 6 Blog – 05.05.26

This week’s blog has been co-written by Reyah, Elise and Shaheer in 6D.

Our final term in Year 6 has arrived and the children returned from their half term with big smiles which was lovely to see. We will have messages about residential, end of year production and leaver’s arrangements coming over the next few weeks so please do stay tuned as we shared them with you.

RSE meeting

Miss Jones has emailed out and sent home with children a letter about our upcoming unit of PSHE related to RSE (relationships and sex education.) Please contact your child’s teacher (or search in the bottom of their bag) if you haven’t received the letter. There will be a drop in this week on Thursday 11th June from 3:30 – 4:00 for you to ask any questions or pose any queries related to the content or do send them via email to Miss Jones or Mrs Dobkin.

Rehearsal

Rehearsal We have been practising our rehearsal play this week and we learnt our songs from the play. Elise said, “My favourite song is ‘Tonight’s the night’ because it is when my first line is.” Reyah said, “My favourite song is ‘It’s not all its cracked up to be’ because the actors who play Rockfella and the manager are like arguing and it’s funny.” https://www.victoriaparkprimaryschool.co.uk/cinderella-rockerfella/ to learn the lyrics.

English

This week we have started a new unit of narrative and spent this week focusing on writing in the style of an author. We watched the short film: Rock,Paper, Scissors. Here it is below:

First  we wrote about Rock meeting Paper; then next we wrote about the entry of the character Scissors. Next week we will look at dialogue to move the story on.

Science

This week we completed our final unit of Science: Circuits. We looked at the effects of changing the amount of cells or the amount of bulbs in a circuit and also what happens when you lengthen the wires in a circuit. We used this interactive resource to do this

We also looked at this great website called Crack The Circuit where we tried to recreate the circuits shown using circuit symbols in order to open the box. Have a go! Can you get past level 5? Some of the children in Year 6 reached level 18!

Next week 6J will take over the blog for a few weeks and hopefully share some of the writing and DT we have planned.

Have a great weekend.

The Year 6 Team.
