Year 1 News – 3.7.26
English / Design Technology
In English, we have enjoyed the story ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’. Mr Grinling then wrote to us, asking us to design and make him a sandwich. Some children were brave enough to try some mustard!

After we had made and tasted the sandwich, we wrote instructions to Mr Grinling to tell him how to make it.
We also ordered instructions and then followed them to make our very own seagull.

Maths
We have finished our unit on money and have moved on to our final Year unit, which is all about telling the time. This week the children have been talking about before and after.
Lion Learners
The children had a wonderful time at our animal workshop. They were able to hold a snake, tarantula, tortoise, bearded dragon, a guinea pig and a leaf bug. They learned lots of interesting facts.

Science Superstars!
Well done to everyone who took part in our class auditions. You were all amazing! The winner in 1GC was Elyssia. 1H are announcing their winner next week.

Ramp Fun!
The children have been having fun investigating the ramps. They have been testing which surface is fastest, which vehicle travels the best and does it matter if the ramp is higher?

Sports Day
Next Wednesday is our sports day. Our races will start at 10.20am. The children have enjoyed practising all the races and are ready to compete!
We are looking forward to seeing lots of you at the camp-over tomorrow.
