Year 1 News – 17.7.26

The final week of Year 1! What a privilege it has been to teach your wonderful children this year. We know they will continue to thrive in Year 2! Thank you for all of your kind messages, cards and gifts.

English

In English, we have been drawing pictures and writing about what we have enjoyed most in Year 1.

Maths

In maths, we have finished our final unit on time. The children have been practising telling the time on an analogue clock to the hour and half past.

Art

Each term the children have drawn a self-portrait. This week they have done their final one. We saw lots of improvements in their artistic skills.

Poetry Slam

The children enjoyed taking part in the whole school poetry slam. They all stood on the stage and confidently performed our seaside poem. Well done!

Reading Buddies

The children had a fun final get-together with their Year 5 Reading Buddies. They shared books, ate ice pops and played!

Goodbye, Miss Hardwick!!

Miss Hardwick has had a great year at Farsley Farfield and we were all sad to say goodbye today. Enjoy your new adventure in Cornwall. Have fun!

Transition

The children enjoyed meeting their new Year 2 teachers.

1GC will be going into Mrs Lace’s class.

Mrs Lace

Mrs Midwood and Mrs Wilson will teach 1H.

Summer Reading Challenge

Don’t forget to sign up for the free Summer Reading Challenge at the library. The challenge is to read six library books over the summer. The school with the most children taking part will win a visit from an author. So far, sixteen children have signed up and we are beating the other two Farsley schools! The children can bring their certificates and medals to assembly in September.

Have a lovely summer and good luck in Year 2.
