Reception News – 17.07.26

We can’t believe that this is the last Reception blog post!

It has been a year packed with fun, laughter, adventures and learning! It has been our pleasure to teach such amazing children. Thank you for all your support. (Please keep reading with you child over the holidays.)

Thank you for all your lovely messages and gifts.

Year 1

This week the children have spent a bit more time in Year 1 meeting their new teachers. RKT class met Mrs Galbraith, Mrs Connolly, Mrs Jones (teaching assistant) and Mrs Dixon (teaching assistant)

RPT class met Mrs Broadhead, Mrs Connolly, Miss Maggnis and Mrs Thornton

Library Reading Challenge

Libraries across Leeds have launched their summer reading challenge. It is free to join; this is a great initiative that rewards children for reading over the summer. The challenge is for children to borrow and read 6 books of their choice from their local library. The challenge started last weekend and is running throughout the summer.

The Leeds school with the most improved number of children completing the challenge will win an author visit. We would really love this to be Farfield!

Understanding the World – Maps

The children have finished this topic on Maps with some fun pirate themed activities. The children played ‘Pirate Bingo’ where they had to use positional language to collect items on their treasure map.

This week we got a letter from ‘Pirate Frank’ who left us a treasure map. We followed the number clues and found our edible treasure!

Have a wonderful summer and we look forward to seeing the children in Year 1.
