Farsley Farfield Primary School

Headteacher blog 5th June 2026

Not quite the start to the summer that we hoped for weather-wise but a good beginning to the final half term nonetheless. 3B had a great trip to The Royal Armouries to support their Romans topic and it was funny to see Mrs Begum leaving school after 5pm forgetting she still had blue woad across her face! Next week, we have Y5 residential up around Ribblehead – always a highlight of the year.

On Monday, we had a Humanist speaker in Year 5: a new addition to our wide-ranging and rich RE curriculum. Next week, Y1 children will be doing their Phonics Check and Y4 will be doing their Multiplication Tables Check very soon.

Today, I informed families that I intend to retire at the end of the calendar year. Having been head here for well over twenty years, it will be a big change for me and for the school. The recruitment process will begin soon and I am confident that governors can attract a dynamic, younger headteacher to take the school forward. Farfield is a super school to lead.
