Year 6 – 6.3.26
World Book Day!
We had an amazing World Book Day this week – the children in both classes dressed up either as their favourite characters from a story or as their hobby or favourite thing to do using this year’s theme: ‘Go All In!’ Children were able to visit the ‘Book Swap Stall’ on Thursday and choose from an incredible selection of books which have been brought in by children over the last few days. Thank you so much if you were able to send a book or two (or a few more!) – this really supports reading for pleasure and it was fantastic to see children enthused about books that they then couldn’t wait to read.
Here are some photos of the wonderful costumes we had in Year 6 this year.
As part of the day, we created ‘blackout poems’ using a text from a book we may have read and choosing the words we felt were important to tell a story. Sometimes we were able to choose words which told a different story to that of the text; sometimes we used the poem to enhance the theme of the text. Children also worked really hard on illustrations to match the theme of their poems and made them as creative as possible. We think they’re super!
Here is a folder showcasing some of the excellent work children have produced.
Linked to the day, Year 6 visited their reading buddies in Year 2 and created monster book marks.
Here are some photos of the children working together
