Phonics

In our phonics sessions, we examined pictures displayed on the screen and discussed the sounds we might associate with each image. After this discussion, we listened to some of the actual sounds. The children also participated by listening to and imitating various body percussion sounds.

Concept Words

This week we have looked at the words ‘first‘ and ‘forwards‘.

Maths

This week, we have been focusing on the word ‘next.’ This word is an essential part of early mathematics vocabulary, as it helps teach concepts of sequence, position, time, and pattern. In addition to discussing our regular daily routines, we ordered the events of the story ‘The Three Little Pigs,’ reflecting on the question, “What happened next?”

Straw

The children had a messy time this week. We decided to try build some house using straw, which turned out to be a poor building material. However, the children had lots of fun playing with it afterwards.

Everything else

This week, the children explored ‘cool’ colours and mixed powder paint to create various shades of blue. We will continue this activity next week. They also examined ‘snow’ in a tray and learned about animals that inhabit snowy environments. We have also continued with many of our usual activities.

Have a lovely weekend,

The Nursery Team
