Farsley Farfield Primary School

Headteacher blog 1st April 2016

At the end of this second term, we have been ‘taking stock’ and reviewing our successes to date. Flicking through children’s books, the progress is usually striking and self-evident. A senior leader from Priesthorpe came to visit this week to see the startling improvements in presentation since the autumn term; she went away impressed, determined to maintain and build upon these standards into KS3. Our staff and children have all been working really hard and they deserve their well-earned holiday.

Sadly, Mr Wilkinson leaves the school today as he takes up a post of Deputy Headteacher in a Bradford school. He has been an important member of our staff team and he has brought great creativity to our curriculum offer. He has been a leading figure in the work around Farfield’s learning hive and the promotion of a ‘growth mindset’. He has also led and inspired the school’s use of drama as a tool for teaching and learning – he will be missed personally and professionally.

Our newly qualified teachers – Miss Bradley, Miss Cuthbert and Mr Sharp – have all had successful terms and Mr Sharp has a double reason to celebrate: he has actually now completed his important induction year (having already completed one term previously) and he has also secured a permanent teaching contract with the school. We are delighted to welcome Mr Sharp to our permanent staffing team: he delivers exciting, well-planned learning and is clearly a talented colleague.
