Morning Task

Every morning the children now collect their whiteboard and pen and complete a morning task. These tasks involve practicing name writing, capital letter and number formation, counting, writing and reading sentences. In completing a task this is preparing the children for going into Year 1.

Phonics

This week in phonics we have learnt the new digraphs – oy – toy, joy, royal (oi), ir – dirt, shirt (er, ur), ue – glue, blue, statue (oo as in spoon ) and aw – fawn, lawn (or).

Our new hard to read and spell words are – people, Mr, Mrs. Can you use these new words in a sentence?

Maths

This week in Maths we have practised number bonds up to 10. The children have played practical games to find number bonds for 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. Can your child recall some number bonds to 10? Can they write a number sentence to match?

Understanding the World – Maps

This week we have introduced the children to the United Kingdom. We have looked different features of the different countries – England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Our word of the week is rural. We used Google Earth to look at rural places in Scotland and urban places in England. The children have created their own United Kingdom map.

Stockeld Park

Thank you to everyone who has made a contribution to our upcoming trip. If you are able to please make your donation as soon as possible as this will determine whether or not the trip is able to go ahead.

Monday 15th June – RPT and Tuesday 23rd June – RKT

Please remember to drop your children off at 8:30 on the day of their trip as we need to leave early. Thank you!

Year 1!

The children have enjoyed exploring the Year 1 classrooms this week. We will continue to visit and discuss year 1 to support the transition to their new year group!

From tadpoles to froglets…

In RKT we have been looking after and watching the development of tadpoles from the school pound. We loved seeing the tadpoles grow and become froglets. We realeased them back into the pond and we watched them swimming around.

Science Superstars!

A letter has been sent home for the date of our science superstar auditions! All audition will take place on Friday 26th June. Please see letter attached.

Everything else…

Have a lovely weekend
