Farsley Farfield Primary School

Headteacher blog 10th July

This week we welcomed a group of headteachers from Buckinghamshire who came to see the work that Farfield is doing on developing a ‘Growth Mindset’. Afterwards, a number of the headteachers emailed us, including this from Pippa Brand-Benee: “Thank you so much for making us so welcome yesterday and sharing your Growth Mindset story with us. We were blown away with the children’s understanding of the philosophy – you’ve really set the bar.”

It has been a very busy week across the school. We have been welcoming new children and families to visit us in nursery and Reception had a ‘Beach Party’ complete with deck chairs! KS1 have been practising for Sports Day, 3D had a lovely sunny day at Harlow Carr Gardens and 4GK today visited Horton in Ribblesdale and a quarry as part of their geography work. Years 5 and 6 have completed some ‘Sex and Relationship’ education and we have received the Year 6 SATs results which will be shared with reports early next week. Lots of children have been harvesting on the farm: the strawberries are finally ripening and we have been picking broad beans, beetroot, carrots, onions and some ‘First Early’ potatoes. On Monday, Farm Club will be travelling to Huddersfield to choose and bring back up to a dozen new ‘point of lay’ chickens to replenish our flock to 30.  We have also carried out two days of interviews for Learning Support Assistants and we look forward to welcoming Miss Jackson, Mrs Patel and  Miss Cook to the school in September. We will also welcome Mrs Webster back to Farfield after a brief role at another local school.
