Farsley Farfield Primary School

Head teacher blog 27th March

We have had another great week at Farfield. I went for a wander along the junior corridor yesterday afternoon and saw lots of interesting science work going on: testing magnets and materials in Year 3, classifying and describing properties of liquids and solids in Year 4 and life cycles of fish in Year 6. On top of that, Year 2 have had fantastic ‘nature days’ at Skelton Grange this week and Year 1 have been completing their work on chickens and preparing for seed growing after Easter. On Wednesday, Mr Tiffany took 24 cross country runners to represent Leeds in the West Yorkshire Winter Youth Games; competition was fierce and the course was challenging! We were really proud to have been part of such a great event.  Today, we have welcomed children from three other local primary schools to Farfield to have an ‘enrichment day’ coding and problem-solving using the popular video game Minecraft. We are very lucky to have Mrs Carney’s enthusiasm and expertise in this area on our staff team – colleagues from other schools are taking copious notes!

I know one of the children who was lucky enough to come to the enrichment day on Friday. He sought me out to tell me what a great time he had had, and that he thinks Farsley Farfield is ‘amazing, awesome, and SO big!’. Evie was very proud to be able to show her school off to one of her friends.
