The Easter Story
As well as going on our fantastic trip to Yorkshire Wildlife Park earlier in the week, we have also had a local visit to St John’s Church to learn about the Easter story. We were welcomed by vicar Nathaniel, along with volunteers John and Pauline, who told us the story. Other volunteers set up an egg hunt for us. We enjoyed some songs too! Thank you very much to the parent volunteers who came with us; without your support, we couldn’t do local visits like this.

English
In English lessons we looked at examples of recount writing and played eye spy to spot their features: chronological order, time words, expanded noun phrases and past tense. Children then wrote their own recounts and included lots of detail about our day out.
Spellings
This week, we looked at words ending tion. We found that a good strategy for learning these words was to clap out the syllables!
Maths
This week we have been learning about measuring mass. The children have looked at balance scales to find out which is heavier. We then used grams and kilograms to measure mass. We had some tricky problems to solve. Can you work out the answer to this one?

We then started to learn about volume and capacity.
Volume: the amount the container is holding
Capacity: the total amount the container can hold

We found out that we can measure volume and capacity in millilitres. Can you do some measuring in ml at home?
Tinga Tinga Art
We enjoyed creating our own TingaTinga animals using paints and pens. We loved adding fun colours and patterns!
