Phonics
Over the next 2 weeks we are revising all the sounds we have learnt. We have learnt 2 new hard to read and spell words – when and what. In our phonics lessons the children are doing well sounding out and spelling words and writing a sentence.
Please keep reading at home, aim for 3 times a week. If you are finding it particularly challenging getting your child to read try and read a page each, take turns. Only read 2 pages at a time. Don’t forget you can always have fun with all your flashcards – could you make up some alien words like charp or plint?

Maths
This week, the children have been developing their understanding of composition or the numbers within numbers. A key focus was exploring ways to represent numbers using a die pattern.

This helped them secure their understanding of the pairs of numbers that make 5. We also began to explore 6 and 7 as numbers that are composed of ‘5 and a bit’.
Understanding of the World – RE
This week, we leaned that Hindus go to a Mandir to worship and saw that Mandir’s have lots of statues that show god’s different forms. We learned that Hindu worship involves all senses and that Hindus bring flowers, lights, and food as offerings.
The Lost Star
This week the Reception children got a letter from a lost star, they had fallen from the sky and needed our help to get back up. This prompted lots of creative ideas and some super writing.

Everything else…

Have a super weekend.
