Year 2 News- 27.2.26

We’ve had a brilliant first week back! The better weather has been really welcome. We even managed some outdoor PE!

Exploring Africa

In geography this half term we will be exploring the continent of Africa. On Monday we took a flight to Zambia and studied the route we would take and which countries we might fly over. We learned some interesting facts about this continent and are looking forward to finding out more.

English: Tinga Tinga Tales

In English, we enjoyed the story How the Elephant Got Its Trunk and have written reviews and character descriptions.

Here are some photos of 2MW improving Mrs Midwood’s sentences by adding adjectives and conjunctions.

Maths

We have continued our work on multiplication and division this week with a focus on the the two times table. We have used our two times table knowledge to further develop our understanding of doubles and halves and odds and evens.

Today we have introduced the children to TTRockstars. The children can practise times tables and related division facts on here. They can log on using their Purple mash usernames and passwords.

Art

We learned all about African artist Edward Tingatinga and looked at some of his work. We found out that he inspired other artists to copy his style and we were inspired too! We loved looking at each others’ drawings at the end.
