Nursery Blog – 27.02.26

This half term, we are focusing on the story ‘Farmer Duck.’ The children have enjoyed participating in the animal sounds.

Phonics

We have started Phase 2 of phonics. This week, we introduced the phoneme and grapheme ‘s’. We discussed ‘Sid the Silly Snake’ and read the rhyme together. We will continue to look at ‘s’ next week.

Words

This week, we focused on the words ‘later’ and ‘less.’

Maths

The children have been examining labels and symbols. We wrote numbers 1 to 3 on labels and attached them to buckets. The children helped count the correct number of objects to place in each bucket.

Everything else

During the holidays, some of the children celebrated Pancake Day. We discussed Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, and the Christian countdown to Easter. As a special treat, we enjoyed pancakes and experimented with various toppings. Additionally, some children are preparing to celebrate Eid, so we spent some time talking about Ramadan and the Muslim countdown to Eid. We learned about how some families are fasting in preparation for this celebration. In our activities, we have also been busy sorting items, making balloon models, painting, colouring, and spending a lot of time outside digging and preparing for Spring.

Have a lovely weekend,

The Nursery Team
