Reception News – 3.10.25
We are in October all ready, the weeks are whizzing by!
Phonics
In phonics this week we have learnt the phonemes g, o, c and k. Our hard to read and spell words are put, of and is. The children are doing so well to use their magic finger and a pencil to help them form the new phonemes and words. This is how we hold our pencil, we use a tripod grip.

Reading and Maths Meeting
Every child should have brought home a letter informing you about our Reading and Maths meeting. The meeting takes place on Wednesday 8th October at 2.30pm (North Hall) and online at 6pm. We really recommend everyone attends one of these meetings as we will be talking about our new phonics scheme – ELS and how reading will be taught. We will also discuss how we teach Maths and what it looks like in our classrooms.
Maths
We have been been practicing counting. The children have enjoyed singing some number songs like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Once I Caught a Fish Alive. We also met our friend Gertrude (puppet) she isn’t very good at counting so we have been helping her! We have shown her how to put objects in a line and count them slowly by pointing to each one.
We all enjoyed making our own counting stick!

Everything else…

Have a lovely weekend
