Happy World Book Day!

Happy World Book Day!

We have had a super week of learning in Year 3, but our highlight was certainly World Book Day! We were so impressed with the amazing outfits the children came in, including animals, bakers, artists, footballers, a paleontologist, as well as lots of exciting characters!

Reading Buddies
This week, Year 3 shared their love of reading with their reading buddies in nursery and loved exploring some stories together!

Designing Characters and Settings
We challenged Year 3 to use their imaginations and create their own characters and settings on WBD! Some children created characters based on ones they already knew and loved and some came up with brand new creations based on aliens, fairies and strange creatures (to name a few!). The children also designed some fascinating settings for their characters to live in. Have a look at some of their wonderful designs below!

Book Swap
The children loved taking part in the book swap too! There were so many exciting books to choose from – they were spoilt for choice! Thank you very much for your generous donations of books for this activity!

Mystery Readers
Year 3 have been very lucky to have been visited by some mystery readers this week! Thank you very much to our (now not so!) mystery readers for sharing some wonderful stories with both classes!

Blue Peter Book Badge
Instead of the usual homework this week, we would like to give children the opportunity to take part in the Blue Peter Book Badge challenge! Here is an extract from the website to explain what children need to do!
‘To earn this badge all you need to do is tell us about a book you’ve enjoyed reading recently and draw a character or scene from the book. We’d also love to hear about any books that have sparked your imagination. So, what are you waiting for? Pick up a book, explore your school library, or become a member of your local library and you could be on your way to earning your very own Book badge!’

More information can be found on the BBC website, including how to enter on behalf of your child: https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/findoutmore/blue-peter-apply-for-a-book-badge

We would love for children to share their entries with us! If children have already completed their entry, maybe they could design a new cover for their favourite book or write a book review of a book they have read recently!
