Headteacher blog 25th March 2021

It has been a beautiful sunny week at school: lovely to see all the children enjoying and using the grounds. On Tuesday evening, I had the pleasure of showing a group of staff from another local school around the grounds as they are looking for ideas and advice around their site development. One of the things that I like about our provision is that it is all clearly well used: nothing is pristine and ‘just for show’.

This week colleagues have completed assessments and brief mid-year reports that will go out on Monday. The children are doing well, but we are about 10% below where we would typically expect to be at this time of year in terms of children at expected or ‘greater depth’ standards. Year 6 seem to be doing the best: for them, the disruption to their education has been proportionally less and they were older and more able to engage in learning whilst in Lockdown.

Today has felt very ‘Easter-ish’ with lots of entries in our decorated eggs and inaugural Easter bonnet competitions. Thank you to everyone for their entries. The winners will be displayed at tomorrow’s PTA Easter Fair. We hope to see LOTS of people tomorrow for Easter fun between 1-3pm on the school grounds.
