Headteacher blog 23rd January 2026

It has been a damp muddy week but a fun one nonetheless.

Class 1H went to Cartwright Hall on Tuesday and enjoyed time in an art gallery. I saw some lovely Y1 homework relating to art and artists and this trip will have helped inspire that.

On Wednesday I was in London to attend the annual BETT show that showcases educational IT. One colleague commented that I would have been like a child in a sweet shop but sadly I was like a child in a sweet shop with no money. This year, everything seemed to have the letters AI as a prefix or suffix. We are looking at how AI can support our school admin and management, and how teachers can use it to support teaching and learning. Some of our existing subscriptions have AI built in – e.g. Google Workspace and our new MIS system – so a lack of additional funds is no reason to stop us using AI where it is useful. The children currently won’t have access to generative AI but this will be something to review and manage. In the short term, children can enjoy some of the fruits of AI whilst being aware that they can’t believe everything that they see!
