English and Science

This week, we have been learning about our five senses and which body part we use for each sense. We had fun tasting, feeling, listening, smelling and looking at various objects.

We continued with our work on senses in English. We used adjectives to describe what we could see, hear, smell, touch and taste. Then we wrote sentences using these adjectives.

Maths

We have been doing lots of subtraction in maths. This week we have used number lines to subtract.

World Book Day Fun!

The highlight of our week has been World Book Day! We started the day with a fantastic assembly. Truman Books came to visit us to show us all of the books that we can get with our World Book Day vouchers – there are some brilliant books to choose from!

Then they did a rotation of four activities with four different teachers in KS1. They enjoyed learning about bees with Mrs Lace. They all took home some seeds to plant.

They had fun reading ‘Oi Frog’ with Mrs Wilson.

With Miss Hardwick, they learnt about Amelia Earhart and made paper aeroplanes. They had fun testing them!

Mrs Galbraith read a story about Frida Kahlo. They then made paper flower crown faces.

The children all enjoyed choosing a book at the ‘Book Swap’.

Mystery Reader

We have had our first mystery readers in Year 1. Thank you for coming to read to the class.

Have a lovely weekend.
