We are delighted to welcome Buzz, Bingo and Bluey to Farfield Farm. These three pygmy goats (not that small!) have moved in the top of the orchard. The PTA and SISK have helped us with some temporary fencing. Mr Nehaul has worked hard getting everything ready. Farm Club built an additional shelter and climbing Read More

Juicing time!

19/09/2025 · No comments yet

This week the juicer has come out to make good use of the bountiful apple harvest. Much of the windfall goes to the pigs, but windfall that is in reasonable condition makes great juice too. The juicer is also the best place for any ‘ugly’ fruit. It is quite a process: lots of chopping, Read More

During this first session we toured the site and harvested what we could: figs, apples, tomatoes, courgette, cucumbers and a pepper (accidentally). We also harvested a butternut squash that had detached itself. We forgot to harvest grapes! (The Read More

Discovery in the orchard

13/09/2024 · No comments yet

Year 6 made an amazing discovery in a remote part of the orchard: a series of honeycombs attached to the branches of an apple tree. There weren’t many bees around about. Should we leave it there? Could we ‘harvest’ it? Could there be honey? We have emailed our beekeepers for advice.

On our final Farm Club in July, we tended to our crops in the top polytunnel ready for the holidays and we harvested new potatoes. We then made a potato salad to eat and take some home.
