Year 4 News – 19.6.26

English

Having finished reading Cloud Tea Monkeys, Year 4 have been set a new challenge in English this week: to write a non-chronological report all about tea! This week we have been busy researching information, note-taking, exploring the features of non-chronological reports and planning, ready to complete our extended writing next week.

We are also still exploring Cloud Tea Monkeys in our guided reading lessons. In one lesson, we considered how the author’s use of language had helped us to visualise the setting of the story. The children enjoyed using what they had read to create some lovely pastel pictures.

Geography

Both classes are looking forward to their trips to Burnsall next week! The weather is looking warm and mostly sunny, so please make sure children have sunhats, suncream and plenty of water. One of our activities in Burnsall will be to carry out a traffic survey. In order to provide a comparison, a small group of children from 4SL completed a survey in our local area. I wonder what differences we will notice in Burnsall?

Science

A reminder that our Science Superstars auditions will be held on Friday 26th June. Details about what the children need to do if they would like to enter can be found here:

Wishing you all a lovely weekend!
