Year 4 News (8.5.26)
English
Following last week’s exploration of radio adverts, the children in 4NL worked together in small groups to perfect and perform their persuasive scripts (if you missed last week’s blog, the adverts from 4SL can be found there). It was really lovely to hear how much effort the children put into their work and to spot all of the persuasive features that they had included. Though we did encounter a few technical difficulties (especially when it came to recording the audio), the children persevered and were able to create some excellent adverts for the Five Palms Hotel. We hope you enjoy listening!
Science
In our Science lessons this week, we have been continuing to develop our understanding of how living things are classified. This time, we focused more on some of the classes of invertebrates – annelids, molluscs, crustaceans, arachnids and insects. As with our vertebrate work, the children did a great job identifying the shared characteristics of each group and we had some very interesting discussions about some of these creatures!
Computing
This half-term, the children have been learning about the process of stop-motion. After spending a few lessons exploring how this type of animation is made and having a go at creating some simple animations to get used to the software we use, the children got themselves into small groups to plan a final project of their own. We had lots of very interesting ideas being thrown around during this stage and I am sure that we are going to end up with some fantastic animations! The children will be developing these animations together over the coming weeks so keep your eyes peeled for future updates!
Other Notices and Reminders
- Please continue to support your child at home by practising times tables and ensuring reading records are signed 5 times each week.
- In PPA art this term, the children will be working on some collage projects. If you have any old magazines or newspapers at home that you don’t need, we would be very grateful if you could bring them in.
We hope you have a wonderful weekend!
