Headteacher blog 3rd July 2026
I have had a great week with the first three days spent at How Stean Gorge with 6D on residential. They were a great group and really pushed themselves on activities such as gorge scrambling, caving and high wires. Many thanks to all the staff that have supported the residential, especially Mrs Hawkhead and Mrs du Preez, both of whom have been there all week. We have also had two exciting visits by Y2 classes to Skelton Grange. They have also had a ‘bee talk’ with our bee-keeper Nicole up on the farm – one of which was rudely disrupted by escapee pigs! Next week, we have a rearranged trip to Burnsall for a Y4 class and Sports Day for everyone on Wednesday.

Before then, we have our annual Camp-Over on the school grounds over the weekend. We have sold over 600 tickets already and it should be another great day. The weather forecast is dull and breezy but it should be dry. The children won’t mind less-than-ideal weather and it should be another great event. So many thanks to all our volunteers, especially the PTA committee who spend so much time both on the day and for months beforehand.
