Phonics
This week, the children continued to explore the grapheme and phoneme for ‘p’. We practiced the formation and located the grapheme on a letter grid.

Word Aware
This week, we have focused on the words ‘new’ and ‘next’.
Maths
This week, we read ‘Meg and Mog.’ After reading the story, we created our own potions by counting various objects and placing them in cauldrons. We focused on using one-to-one correspondence and the cardinal principle, which helps children understand that the last number counted represents the total value of the items.

Everything else
What a beautiful, sunny week it has been! The children spent a lot of time outdoors, and some even visited the animals. The highlight of the week was the worms, which provided a great opportunity for measurement activities. The children were eager to care for them and create new, slightly safer homes for them.

Enjoy the long weekend,
The Nursery Team
