A sunny week!
What a lovely, sunny week it has been! Here are some of the things Year 4 have been getting up to:
Maths
In maths we have started our work on decimals. We have been writing tenths as fractions and decimals, using place value charts and number lines to represent decimals, and using our understanding of place value to divide 1 and 2-digit numbers by 10.

Dividing by 10:

English
In English, we have been looking at persuasive writing and identifying different persuasive techniques. The children had fun listening to some examples of radio adverts and evaluating how effective they were. They have now started to plan their own radio adverts in small groups. We are all excited to continue this next week! Here are some sneak peeks of the children’s planning so far…

Science
In Science this week we have been answering the question ‘What is a living thing?’ The children had excellent prior knowledge and used the acronym MRS GREN to help remember the seven different life processes. We also sorted a group of objects into living, once alive and never alive, which prompted some interesting discussions.

Geography
In Geography, we studied different maps to find out how Leeds has changed over the last 250 years. The children did really well at spotting similarities and differences, and were quite amazed at how different Leeds looked in 1770 compared to now!

Music
We have been practising the accompaniment to our new song, Bringing Us Together, which is a very happy, upbeat tune.
Homework
- Maths: Decimal tenths sheet
- Spelling: Words from the Year 3/4 spelling list
Homework is due in on Wednesday. Please remember to also practise your times tables and fill in your reading record five times each week.
Wishing you all a lovely bank holiday weekend.
