History – Trip to Armley Mills

This week Year 6 went on a trip to Armley Mills to learn a little more about what life was like during the Industrial Revolution. During the day, the children had a tour of the museum, a workshop linked to the life of children working in the mill and an informative walk down the canal looking at a range of Industrial Revolution points. The children enjoyed the day and asked lots of sensible questions. We were even able to visit the mill owner’s cottage which was very well equipped compared to the workers’ homes.

Here is a link to the photographs we took during the day. Cameras were passed around between groups and classes so there are a lot to look through!

PSHE

Miss Jones has sent out an email and a letter related to our arrangements for the RSE curriculum which will be delivered in the next few weeks. In the email, there are links to the lesson content that we would encourage you to watch to make sure you are prepared for any questions that may come your way. The content is the same as that delivered in previous years, so if there is an older sibling who has been through Year 6 at Farsley Farfield, you will likely have seen these videos and slideshows before. If you have any questions or need to speak to anyone about the content, Miss Jones is offering a drop-in between 3:30 and 4:30 on Wednesday, 25th June. You can also email your child’s teacher at any time

End of Year Arrangements

Thank you to those parents who have sent in pictures of their child as an infant to Mrs duPreez. If you did not receive this email please feel free to email your child’s teacher on the emails above and send in one photo of your child in their younger years to be included in their final assembly presentation.

The School-O-Vision Song Contest

Our performance of the school-o-vision song contest will take place on July 16th at 6:30pm. Children should be dropped off at the main doors at 6pm.

Seats will be restricted to two per child and will cost £2 per ticket. This will cover the cost of the licence, and if there is any money remaining once that’s paid, we will put that towards an end-of-term treat for Year 6 children. Once the tickets have been allocated, we will allocate any spares on a first-come, first-served basis. If you need spares, please look out for a ticketing email which will arrive in your inbox very soon.

End of Year Assembly

We invite Year 6 parents and carers to an end of year – and end of Farsley Farfield – assembly which will take place in the school hall on Friday 18th July in the morning. Times will be confirmed very shortly but it is likely to be from around 9:15 – 11:00. Parents are welcome to exit through the courtyard outside 6D after the assembly and take any photos they wish to at that time.

The Final Afternoon

We will be having our traditional water fight between teachers and students in Year 6 in the afternoon of Friday, 18th July. We ask that children bring a spare pair of underwear and a towel as well as a t-shirt and shorts they’d be happy to get wet (and a bag to take wet clothes home in!) They will also need a water gun to take their revenge on Miss Jones and Mrs Dobkin….

Leaver’s Hoodies can be worn on the final afternoon to leave the school but shouldn’t be worn at any other time as they are not school uniform.

Enjoy the sunshine this weekend!
