Farsley Farfield Primary School

Year 6 03.10.25

English

This week, we became the main character of our class text: Kensuke from Kensuke’s Kingdom. We used drama to get into role and think carefully about the emotions which Kensuke experienced during the chapters we have read this week.

Here are some pictures

We will be writing as Kensuke and aiming to improve our recount skills next week – stay tuned for some brilliant writing coming soon.

Oreo Plate Tectonics

One of the highlights of the year every year is the lesson in which Year 6 are asked to explain plate tectonics using cookies! This year was no different and we had a lovely time creating posters to show the different plate boundaries and whether or not you’d find an earthquake near each one.

Here are some pictures

Here is a brilliant website which tells you a little more about the plate boundaries which exist around the world.

Black History Month

We participated in a live assembly this week, launching Black History Month, which has a theme this year of ‘Standing firm in Power and Pride.’ Special guest on the assembly was Radio 1 Extra presenter Swarzy who spoke about finding inspiration in those around us and feeling pride in our names and our culture. You can watch the video of the assembly here – see if you can catch the shout out to Farsley Farfield!

Homework

We have looked at column multiplication in maths this week with 4 x 2 digit numbers – do ask your child to teach you what they’ve learned as it’s often the best way to secure understanding.

Here is a video which shows the strategies we have used to multiply numbers in case anyone needs a refresher!

Lots of our children are still very wobbly on their times tables. We would like everyone to do 10 minutes at least of TTRS every day for their homework if possible.

Have a lovely weekend.
