This Week in Year 4: Bananas, Music and Sports
English
Year 4 had lots of fun writing thank you letters to the Cloud Tea Monkeys, not on paper, but on bananas! In our thank you letters, we had to practise using the present perfect tense (e.g. ‘the empress has tasted the tea’ or ‘we have paid the doctor’). It was amazing how neatly some children managed to write on their bananas!

Music
4SN have been working hard to learn the song Frère Jacques, singing and playing in a round. Here is a performance that we did this afternoon:
Animations
We would also love to share 4SN’s finished animations with you!
Pudsey Olympics
Last week, a group of Year 4 children had the exciting opportunity to represent Farfield at the Pudsey Olympics. The children did really well and our school overall finished in 4th place. At school, we have been busy getting ready for sports day. The children have really impressed us with their positive attitudes and good team work. A group of Year 4 girls has also been preparing for a football tournament on Monday; it has been wonderful seeing them all practising at playtimes!

Homework
For homework this week, we would like children to practise learning the poem ‘From a Railway Carriage’ by Robert Louis Stevenson. We have been practising this in our classes ready for our poetry slams next week.
Faster than fairies, faster than witches,
Bridges and houses, hedges and ditches;
And charging along like troops in a battle,
All through the meadows the horses and cattle:
All of the sights of the hill and the plain
Fly as thick as driving rain;
And ever again, in the wink of an eye,
Painted stations whistle by.
Here is a child who clambers and scrambles,
All by himself and gathering brambles;
Here is a tramp who stands and gazes;
And there is the green for stringing the daisies!
Here is a cart run away in the road
Lumping along with man and load;
And here is a mill and there is a river:
Each a glimpse and gone for ever!
