Phonics
This week, we are focusing on our letter formation and sounding out. The children have been learning about consonant clusters. They have done a super job at writing string, strong, street and three. The dictated sentence was I am strong.
Maths
This week we have been deepening the children’s understanding of number. We have done lots of practical activities, including:
- comparing groups of objects that are different sizes/colours/attributes, using the language of comparison
- showing an understanding that numbers can be split into smaller parts
- showing how to recombine parts to make a whole amount
- showing that some numbers to 10 can be split into 2 equal parts
- knowing that 5 is a key anchor in our number system, from which other numbers may be derived

We have also had a lot of fun with patterns. The children enjoyed creating repeating patterns using a variety of resources.

Understanding the World – RE
The children enjoyed listening to this story in our RE lesson. They are trying hard to do lots of recycling in school.
Music
This week we had fun playing the chime bars. We talked about the different sounds that each note made.

Everything Else…

Sports Day
The children are looking forward to Sports Day next Wednesday and are busy practising the races. The event will take place on the bottom field from 9:15-10:15 and parents and carers are invited to come and watch. Children need to come to school in their PE kit, trainers or pumps and bring a water bottle.
Library books
We are going to start collecting in all the school library books. If you have a library book at home, please return it to school. Thank you.
Have a great weekend.
