Phonics

This week in phonics we have learnt the digraphs ai, ee and oa, and the trigraph igh. Our hard to read and spell words this week were her and was . As part of our writing the children wrote the sentence Her tree is red and I need a coat. They did this using whiteboards and pens. We are super proud of their work.

Maths

This week, the children have explored composition by focusing on the concept of ‘wholes’ and ‘parts’. They children have investigated their own bodies and familiar toys. They have learnt that whole things are often made up of smaller parts and that a whole is, therefore, bigger than its parts. We have used lots of familiar toys to explore this concept.

The Christmas Nativity

The children have started to learn the songs for our nativity. Some children also have a line to learn, please help them practise saying this line. Our performances are on Monday 8th December at 2.30 pm and Thursday 11th December at 9.30 am in the infant building hall. They have all brought home a letter saying what part they are and if they need to bring in any clothes as part of their costume. Please bring any costumes in on Monday. Thank you.

Trip to Abbey House Museum

The children in Reception are going to visit Father Christmas at Abbey House Museum in Kirkstall. RPT will be going on Friday 5th December and RKT are going on Tuesday 9th December. Thank you to everyone who has returned their consent slip and paid on ParentPay.

Everything else…

November is nearly over and it has certainly been cold outside. Please could we ask you label gloves, hats and scarves? As you imagine we have a lot in our cloakrooms.

Have a lovely weekend and we will see you next week, in December!
