Phonics

This week we have learnt the phonemes i, n, m and d. Our hard to read and spell words are ‘I’ and ‘the.’ We modelled using them in sentences. The children are doing so well practising forming the new letters and spelling our new hard to read and spell words.

Today the children have come home with their own set of phonic flashcards and the hard to read and spell words learnt so far. There is also a sheet to help you learn the rhyme that helps with the formation of the graphemes; see the attached document:

Maths

This week we have been doing lots of subitising. When subitising, children can say how many there are in a small group of objects by ‘just seeing’ and knowing straight away without needing to count. They have had fun doing lots of practical maths activities.

We have also introduced the children to the Numberblocks. These are fun characters that we will use during some of our maths lessons.

Everything else…

Have a lovely weekend,

The Reception team

Beaux hasn’t come home with flash cards or the hard to spell words. Should we have had these?

Hi Hayley, all the flashcards went home on Friday in a plastic wallet with Beaux’s name on it. Let Miss Pinnock know if they don’t turn up. We have had a look at school and they aren’t here.
