Phonics

This week the children have looked at the ending ed as in helped. They have tried hard to write the words ripped, drop, cloak and sleep. The dictated sentence was ‘I ripped my cloak’.

They have also been composing and writing sentences in their Busy Bee books. They are working super hard to form the letters correctly.

Maths

A new focus this week was subitising beads on a rekenrek. This key piece of equipment enables the children to continue developing their subitising skills as they explore the structure of small numbers, laying a foundation for further work in Year 1.

RGK at Stockeld Park

RGK had a super time at Stockeld Park. We became story makers. We acted out and told some super stories using props. We then had plenty of time to enjoy lots of physical activity in the Play Hive.

A huge thank you to our parent volunteers, you were amazing! We are sorry your day ended with an extended stay with a broken down car. We couldn’t have the done the day without you.

Understanding the World

Our RE unit this half term is ‘What can we see in our wonderful world?’ This week we read the lovely story ‘Somebody Swallowed Stanley’. The children learnt the new word ‘environment’ and discussed litter, recycling, and how we can look after the world.

Secret Reader

Thank you to this week’s ‘Secret Readers’. If you would like to come and read to the children before the end of the Reception year, please let us know.

Interesting Animals at Farfield!

We have found lots of animals in our school over the last few weeks! Two injured birds and unfortunately another one that didn’t survive. We are keeping the local vets very busy!!

This week, we found two voles. The children asked lots of interesting questions and we are now vole experts after doing some online research!

Have a lovely weekend.
