Phonics

This week we have learnt the phonemes and digraphs y, z, zz and ch. Our hard to read and spell words are we, me, be.

Maths

In maths we have been learning about 2D shape. The children know how to describe circles, squares, rectangles and triangles. They have searched for shapes in their environment and enjoyed playing a shape game too. Do you like our shape pictures?

RPT Reading Buddies

RPT have enjoyed their first visit from 4NL. They shared books, looked at the pictures and started to get to know their new reading buddies.

Bonfire Event

Thank you so much to everyone who braved the rain to come to our Bonfire Event. The children were amazing and we are so proud of them. This was their first time performing in front of adults. They read the Firework Poem beautifully and sang some fun bonfire songs.

Owls

The “Yorkshire Owl Experience” came to school on Thursday and the children had an absolutely amazing time. We met six different owls: Caspa, an Indian Eagle Owl; Dusty, a Tawny Owl; Millie, a Barn Owl; Josie; Gizmo; and Charlie, a Little Owl. Charlie kept everybody entertained as he was a little bit naughty and kept hopping off his perch! The children also learned a lot of facts about the owls’ diet and their habits. Did you know that owls with orange eyes hunt at dusk and dawn and owls with black eyes are nocturnal? Everybody had lots of chances to stroke the owls and most children wanted to hold an owl; some children were even brave enough to hug Caspa!

Have a lovely weekend
