Poems and Performances
Maths
The children started their Multiplication and Division topic in Maths this week, starting with multiplication as equal groups then moving on to understanding arrays. Have a look at the video below as a reminder of arrays, which might help with this week’s homework! The children have also completed their end of term arithmetic and reasoning and problem solving assessments this week and we’re really pleased with the effort they have put in!
English
In English this week, the children have written some Christmas or winter themed list poems! They began by collecting some interesting vocabulary, including thinking of some exciting similes, to include in their poem. They then wrote their own poems all about Santa or winter, including some wonderful descriptive language!
Poem performances
Here are the performances of ‘The Adventures of Isabel’. We hope you enjoy watching them.
Geography
Our Geography topic came to an end this week, with the children using all of the information they have learnt over the half-term about Yorkshire and the French Alps to decide which place they would most like to visit! We recapped some key information about both places, including the countries they are in, what the topography is like, and what people can see and do there. Some children chose Yorkshire due to the exciting places to visit (such as The Deep and Yorkshire Wildlife Park), the countryside and National Parks, and the wonderful coastline. Others chose the Alps as they’d love to have a go at the snow sports, be in the snow and go walking or cycling in the summer!

Art
The children put their art skills to use this week while making Christmas/winter cards! They used watercolours and cottonbuds to create their own representations of trees and wreaths. The children were skilled at mixing the colours they wanted and created some beautiful artwork!
