Farsley Farfield Primary School

Photos and videos from Year 5

We have had such a fun and busy week in Year 5 this week.

In Science we investigated non-newtonian liquids and made some Ooblek, using corn flour and water. We had so much fun passing it around the classroom, although I’m not sire our cleaning lady had as much fun at the end of the school day. Here are some photos.

In English we have been writing our own playscript for a Midsummer Night’s Dream by Shakespear.

5K A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Debating.

In History 5B were learning about the Silk Road and playing the trading game that 5K played last week.

Here are some photos.

5K were learning about different jobs in Baghdad and debating which job was more important. We are continuing with the debates next week.

Year 5 will be doing a lot of debating over the next few weeks as we have entered a Leeds city wide debating competition. It is an excellent opportunity for the children to develop their speaking and listening skills and use of formal language when speaking in front of an audience. All of which are such important life skills. The first round will be in the middle of March. Mr Beevers and I have the difficult job of picking three children from each class, based on how well they do during our practise debates at school.

5B have already recorded their termly music video, which can be found here. 5K’s will follow next week.

Just a reminder that homework is sent home on Friday and should be completed by the following Wednesday. Our extreme reading scores are slowly improving, but can we also remind you to send a signed reading record in with your child every school day.

Many thanks,

Mr Beevers and Mrs Kroon
