Invertebrate Investigators!
It’s been another great week in Year 4!
Science
In science this week we learnt about some of the different groups of invertebrates before going on an invertebrate hunt! We used the pooters to carefully collect creatures that we found so that we could study them more closely. We then released the animals back into their habitats. The children did a really good job of working and thinking like scientists.

Maths
In maths this week we have continued our work on decimals, particularly thinking about place value and partitioning.

The maths homework activity for this week is dividing 1 and 2-digit numbers by 100. Children need to remember to move all the digits two places to the right! This video might be useful if anyone needs support with the task:
English
In English we have enjoyed continuing our work on adverts, this time writing adverts for Farsley Farfield School! Children had to consider who their audience was (children, parents or perhaps even teachers) and persuade them to choose our school. The children have been really enthusiastic during this topic and have worked hard on their scripts. The challenge has been finding enough quiet spaces for 60 children to all record their adverts! If some children would like to record the audio for their adverts at home using their Chromebooks, that would be amazing. Children have been shown how to do this using Google Vids.
Music
One of the songs we have been listening to and learning this half term is ‘Bringing Us Together’. Here are 4SN singing and playing the glockenspiels. We have also been working on creating our own compositions.
Swimming
There will be no Year 4 swimming next week due to the minibuses being out for the Year 5 residential. Swimming will resume after the half term holiday.
Homework
- Maths – dividing 1 and 2-digit numbers by 100
- Spelling – sion, tion and cian wordsearch
Homework is due in on Wednesday. If children need any help with their homework, please speak to a member of staff and we will be happy to go through it with them.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
Mrs Sykes, Miss Levett and Mrs Newsome
