This week we had our termly full Governors’ meeting and it was a typically interesting, challenging and supportive meeting. One of the issues discussed was a range of challenges as regards grounds and buildings and it is good to have expertise in these areas on the governing body. We have recently asked for nominations for a new parent governor and it will be interesting to see who applies. The governing body is a strength of the school and plays an important role in strategic direction, accountability and compliance.

This week Year 3 have had a trip to Leeds City Museum to see the Egyptian Gallery and the whole school enjoyed a range of World Book Day activities; next year will be a dressing-up year. I also had a very enjoyable 45 minutes attending the last session of a Parent Gym course that appears to have been very successful. It was a pleasure to present certificates to a large number of parents who had completed the course.  We are awaiting the formal evaluation of the course, but the informal feedback was very positive: not least, I think parents benefited from hearing that it’s not just them that may have struggles with certain elements of family life and there was mutual support and exploration of potential solutions.
