This week we received our Healthy Schools Award external validation report. Whilst it’s not quite ready for publication, we are delighted by the draft findings of the assessment: highly praising leadership and practice in areas such as PSHE, healthy eating, pastoral care and physical activity; recognising the high profile given to well-being and celebrating the ‘outstanding’ outdoor provision and approach to food. What is particularly pleasing is the fact that so many people are involved in this and the assessor stated that: “All the pupils that I met were happy, confident, articulate, polite and friendly and demonstrated an excellent knowledge of health and well-being.”

This is such a busy time of year. In these last few weeks of term we have lots of visits and visitors. This week, Year 1 had a visit from Sam’s Safari with exotic animals, whilst Y6 have had a visit from a Victorian woman from Saltaire and a trip to Bradford Industrial Museum as part of their work on the industrial revolution. Y3 had a Romans Day that included some wonderful costumes and an excellent remotely-delivered workshop. Our grounds also hosted a ‘Deaf Friends’ morning for hearing impaired children from around the city. Next week Y5 are off to Malham in the Dales – at least there will be some water in the rivers and waterfalls they are visiting!

Towards the end of the week, we have been getting ready for this weekend’s Camp-Over. Our brilliant PTA managed to get together a dozen volunteers to erect their new marquee on Thursday morning and it looks great! We are expecting a record-breaking turn-out on Saturday and we won’t let any drizzle spoil the fun!

(It wasn’t quite as quick a job as this video implies! Thank you so much for all the volunteers – it will be quicker next time.)
