Poems, PSHE & Preparing!

Maths

In maths, we have continued with our learning of time, focusing on digital time and durations. Children read through several problems, using number lines to make jumps to the nearest hour and added on the additional minutes. We have also been working on changing time on a digital clock to match an analogue clock using the 24 hour clock. This has been a bit tricky for some children and homework this week is consolidating this.

English

Our English lessons have been all about the Sound Collector this week! Children have enjoyed working in groups and in pairs practising their lines which we will be performing next week. We have sent home a copy of the poem for children who have misplaced their copy. Please remind children to practise their lines over the weekend. Here are some pictures of 3B making props and reading out their lines!

PSHE

This week, Year 3 took part in an online webinar all about ‘Belonging in Leeds’. Children explored why belonging is important and discussed in small groups what it means to be part of a community and what they would like their city to be part of. Following this webinar, children enjoyed creating beautiful posters all about what makes them feel like they belong and shared this with their peers.

Computing

Help! Our team are in trouble! Year 3 have been learning about simulations and the purpose of them. This week, they have learned more about a team of astronauts who have travelled to another planet but their spaceship has broken down! With only 3 days of oxygen left, will they make it back?  Children have enjoyed discussing what they could do from the control room and preparing a list of items they think will be important for their team. Next lesson, they will be reporting back to the captain and possibly rescue the team. Will they be successful?

Sports day

9th July 13:10 – 15:10

On the day, please ensure your child comes to school with a bottle of water and, if the weather is sunny, they have sun cream applied and have a hat. The events will take place on the bottom field.
If possible, children should wear their team colours: red, blue, green, or yellow. Your child should know which team they are in; if unsure, please ask their class teacher.
