Headteacher blog June 8th 2018
This week Year 6 have been on residential at How Stean Gorge and they have had an amazing time! The weather has been better this year and the children have had the challenge of abseiling, gorge scrambling, via ferrata, caving and canoeing. They have really enjoyed camping with their friends and they have been terrific groups to go away with. I was really pleased to see that there was a clear progression from the Year 5 residential in terms of outdoor education challenge, and progress was evident within the couple of hours of each activity. Outdoor Adventurous Activity is a real strength in the school, not just in Years 5 and 6, and is an important part of the broader curriculum.
Back at school, Year 1 are readying themselves for next week’s Phonics Assessment. They have all made really good progress in this and parents have been very supportive too. Finally, PTA plans for their fantastic Camp-Over are progressing very well and there is an exciting itinerary. It is on Saturday 30th June: has your family got their tickets yet?
