Headteacher blog 8th February 2019
As you may know, I am on secondment for 50% of the time with Leeds Children’s Services. I do miss school sometimes, and I often find that my remaining time in school is disproportionately spent in meetings rather than with children and colleagues in classrooms. Fortunately, we have very strong teaching and support teams and the school seems to generally run very well without me.
On Thursday, I spent a lot of time in meetings about the care and progress of three of our most precious children: those in the care of the local authority. These can be difficult and challenging meetings – children aren’t taken into care lightly – but actually on this occasion the meetings were overwhelmingly positive. All of those children are being so well cared for by their fantastic foster parents and most are making some really pleasing educational progress. It is expected that our provision for all our children is of a high quality and appropriately bespoke, but this is crucial for these children for whom early life may been very difficult. We must all be good corporate parents.
Today, children have been very keen to support the Leeds Children’s Heart Surgery Fund by wearing red. Thank you to all our families for their generous donations.
