Our drive for health and fitness at Farfield was boosted this week by the opening of the new ‘Outdoor Gym’ in the trees on the field. This is a really challenging combination of installations to support development of upper body strength. Children have been resourceful and cooperative this week helping peers up onto higher challenges, and they have shown strength and determination as they have traversed monkey ladders, jungle swings and bars. We have one piece of equipment to finish this week and then the project will be complete. Many thanks again to the volunteers that have installed this and to Gibbs and Dandy for sand and concrete.
On the theme of fitness and determination, I was delighted to take a team of nearly 30 children to the first cross country competition of the year. Open to all West Leeds primary schools, about a dozen schools gathered at Farnley Academy after school on Thursday. Our children all ran very well and our Y5 boys and Y5 girls both won their team competitions. We didn’t have any outstanding runners – our best finish was 5th I think – but we had great strength in depth which reflects very well on the school. Well done to everyone involved – I was proud of you all!
